Welcome to Making Miracles a registered charity providing compassionate care & support for families coping with birth trauma & bereavement.
Making Miracles is the birth trauma and bereavement care charity offering families the support, services and tools they need to help find their “new normal” following trauma and grief. Started in 2014 by our CEO, Kelly Wells, based in Kent in the South-East of England and have already been on an incredible journey.
Kelly started Making Miracles after experiencing a traumatic high-risk pregnancy and the near loss of her daughter’s life. As Kelly searched for organisations to help her through this incredibly difficult time, she found herself in chat rooms and realised that she was not alone in her feelings of pure isolation and grief. Later, as Kelly reflected on what she had been through, she recognised the significant gaps in her emotional care. Believing she could use her personal experience and isolated journey to make a real difference to families navigating their way through their own trauma and grief, by providing support and the reassurance that there is always somewhere to turn.
Since 2014, Making Miracles has flourished with every passing year. The team has grown significantly, and all have “lived in” experience on some level relating to trauma and loss. In 2016 Kelly received in-house clinical training at Medway’s Fetal and Maternal Medicine Centre and qualified as a BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) counsellor. Not only has Kelly worked with thousands of grieving families, but she has also trained our wonderful NHS staff around Baby Loss and specifically how to communicate with grieving parents. Hayley, Becci and Jodie have also all completed Counselling courses in order to facilitate our support groups and further support our service users. Kelly also provides support, delivers lectures and provides training for universities, charities and organisations. Our podcast “Baby loss, Grief & Love” is the first UK baby loss charity podcast and can be found here.
At Making Miracles our whole team understands that no grief is ever the same and this is reflected in the variety of services that are customised to suit individual needs. Listening is at the heart of what we do. We listen to the families who come to us and we adapt our services based on their needs, recognising that these needs also evolve over time. Our services and care pathway allow families to access what they need, when they need it most. Making Miracles is open to the whole family from parents to grandparents and siblings; and is the only UK charity to offer this. We understand the ripple effect that loss has across families, the impact it has on relationships and how culture can affect how this shows up.
